Dog & Handler Teams

Volunteer with your "pit bull" type dog in our Paws for Strength and/or Bullies Against Bullying programs. Dog & Handler Teams must be CGC &  Pet Partners certified in order to participate. 

 

Program Facilitators

Program Facilitators are volunteers who deliver our Paws for Strength and/or Bullies Against Bullying programs. Duties include public speaking and presentations, receiving volunteers, setting up and tearing down programs, etc. 

 

"Pit Bull" Health Clinic Volunteer

Volunteers are needed to help at community vaccine clinics throughout the spring, summer and fall. Clinics take place throughout the city mainly in Englewood and Marquette Park neighborhoods. 

 

Bick's Adoption Ambassadors

Ambassadors volunteer in tandem with our partner shelters and promote Bick's "Pits" at adoption events. Experience with dog handling is required. Adoption events take place around Illinois. 

 

General Event Volunteer

Volunteer to help at our fundraising events or tabling at Blackhawks games. Events take place throughout the year and are a ton of fun! Must be outgoing and able to speak about the organization and "pit bulls". 

 

Steps to Become a Volunteer: 

 

1. Email info@bickellfoundation.org for a volunteer application.

 

2. Once you fill out a volunteer application you will be prompted to fill out a dog application. If you aren't volunteering with your dog, you will have the option to skip this step and go to the virtual orientation. 

 

3. Once you fill out the dog application or skip that step, you will be prompted to watch and complete the virtual online orientation. 

 

4. You will receive instructions to e-sign the waiver and liability document upon completing the virtual orientation. 

 

AGE REQUIREMENT:  Must be over 21 years-old to participate as a Dog & Handler Team and Chicago Loves Pits Volunteer. All other positions require you to be 18-years old.
