Bick's "Pits"

Bick's "Pit" of the Month!

Hudson, located in Chicago  March

Meet Hudson! This sweet senior boy was an owner surrender at a local shelter. The family was moving and could no longer care for him. He needs assistants getting a round and of course for this bathroom needs. He's a super happy guy that loves roll around in his cart and hang out with all the therapists at Integrative Pet Care. He's not a huge fan of water but has tolerated our request and done really well in the resistance pool for therapy - it's helping relieve some of the extra stress he puts on the front half of his body and is a fantastic workout for him as he does need to lose a few pounds. If you have more questions about Hudson and are interested in meeting and possibly adopting please contact us first before applying. He will need some special accommodations for his disability for both himself and potential adopter.

Hudson has hindlimb paresis, is unable to stand on his own but has slight movement at his hips when supported. He occasionally wags his tail and has reflexive movements but moves around very well in his custom wheelchair. He doesn't necessarily need to continue therapy at IPC IF the adopter is willing to work with him at home. He needs someone who is able to:
express his bladder 3-4 times a day to prevent urinary tract infections
able to pick him up (about 55lbs) and put him in and take him out of his wheelchair
learn massage, range of motion and physical therapy techniques and put them in practice at least once a day

If you are interested in adopting Hudson www.CBBR.org to complete an application to expedite the process.
