Working with "pit bulls" to end the cycle of abuse.

Paws for Strength focuses on assisting abused children through the help of certified therapy "pit bull" type dogs.. Participants in the program work together to learn how to set boundaries, safely approach and work with new dogs and graduate with greater confidence. This program highlights the even temperament of “pit bull” type dogs and how their amazing capacity for love and loyalty help children who were once abused.

Volunteer: Therapy sessions take place with the children residing at The Hephzibah House in Oak Park, IL in 6-week intervals. We are always looking to expand our volunteer Dog & Handler Teams as every dog can bring something new to a child. If you and your dog want to become a Dog & Handler Team with us, please click here to learn about the requirements and certification needed to work with us.
